Freeware licence

Copyright (c) 2026 zeDesk

1. Grant. You may download, install and use zdkmd free of charge, on any number of computers, for any purpose, personal or professional. You may also copy and redistribute it, free of charge, alone or within a package or a distribution, provided that each copy is unmodified and keeps this licence and the notices of its third-party components (clause 4).

2. Modification. You may study, modify, adapt, translate, decompile, disassemble and reverse engineer zdkmd for your own use. Subject to clause 4, you may not redistribute a modified copy of zdkmd, nor a part of it.

3. Ownership. zdkmd is licensed, not sold. zeDesk keeps the copyright in it, and every right this licence does not grant.

4. Third-party components. zdkmd includes open source components, each under its own licence, among them JavaScriptCore and TinyCC, libraries of the Bun runtime, under the GNU Lesser General Public License (versions 2 and 2.1). zdkmd --licenses prints their notices and licences, and where to obtain the source code of these libraries; the same text is at https://zdkmd.zedesk.net/third-party-notices.txt. This licence does not restrict the rights those licences grant, which prevail for those components.

5. No warranty. zdkmd is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

6. Limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by the applicable law, in no event shall zeDesk be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with zdkmd or its use.

7. Termination. This licence ends automatically if you do not comply with its terms; you must then delete every copy of zdkmd in your possession. The rights that clause 4 preserves are not affected.

Third-party components

zdkmd includes open source components, each under its own licence. zdkmd --licenses prints their notices and their licences after this licence; the same text is at https://zdkmd.zedesk.net/third-party-notices.txt.

Two of them, JavaScriptCore (of WebKit) and TinyCC, libraries of the Bun runtime that every zdkmd executable embeds, are under the GNU Lesser General Public License, versions 2 and 2.1. This licence does not restrict the rights it grants: you may modify these libraries or replace them, link zdkmd again with them, and reverse engineer zdkmd to debug such modifications. Their source code, as zdkmd uses them:

The notices explain how to link zdkmd again with a modified library.

For 3 years from each release, zeDesk, the author of zdkmd, gives anyone who asks, free of charge, the object form of zdkmd needed to link it again with a modified version of these libraries: write to dev@zedesk.net.
